Cannabis Consumers Favor Pro-Cannabis Candidates Regardless of Party, New Poll Reveals

A new poll conducted by NuggMD.com reveals that 59% of cannabis consumers would vote for a presidential candidate supporting pro-cannabis policies, irrespective of the candidate's party affiliation. This finding underscores the growing significance of cannabis policy as a pivotal issue for a substantial segment of the electorate. The poll, which surveyed 755 individuals from NuggMD's first-party data, shows President Biden leading Donald Trump 43% to 36% among regular cannabis users, a demographic comprising at least 35 million voting-age Americans.

The survey also highlights a preference for Democratic Party cannabis policies, with 56% of respondents favoring Democratic approaches over the 16% who support Republican strategies. However, skepticism remains, as nearly 40% believe Democrats aim to suppress legal cannabis use, compared to 68% who think the same of Republicans. The poll suggests that cannabis consumers are motivated by policy achievements rather than partisan loyalty, indicating a shift in voter priorities that could influence future elections.

Deb Tharp, NuggMD's head of legal and policy research, notes the potential for both parties to expand their voter base by adopting more progressive cannabis policies.
